The Health Achieve East conference was a wonderful opportunity for me as both a clinician and a health administration student. This was a not-to-miss event and I am very thankful to the Emerging Health Leaders NS node for providing free registration to attend the event. Health Achieve East covered a wide array of topics ranging from healthcare leadership to clinical and non-clinical health services provision. The interesting combination had me glued to my seat during the entire two-days. For example, one session highlighted the PATH (Palliative and Therapeutic Harmonization) program, a model that focuses on frailty to improve the appropriateness of care and resource utilization by informing decisions about medical and surgical interventions, nursing home placement and end of life care. Despite Toronto being the primary location of Health Achieve, its extension to east coast is commendable and very useful for current healthcare professionals as well as aspiring healthcare leaders.
Health Achieve East will be coming to Halifax again on November 2-3rd. For more information, visit: http://www.healthachieve.com/east. There will be a special rate for students!
