Emerging Health Leaders (EHL) is a network developed for new health professionals, by new health professionals. EHL is dedicated to supporting the development of emerging health leaders through opportunities for knowledge exchange, educational events, mentoring relationships and informed health care and related discussions. There are 8 nodes across Canada, including EHL-Nova Scotia which was established in 2014.
The EHL-NS executive is made up of seven emerging health leaders who are mentored by seven senior leaders in Nova Scotia’s health system. Our Executive, Advisory Council and membership span the continuum of health and health services in the province (e.g. DHAs, continuing care, students, researchers and health care providers, etc.). EHL-NS supports the development of emerging health leaders in Nova Scotia through our three strategic directions:
- Facilitate robust dialogue and meaningful collaboration between existing and emerging health leaders (e.g. Job Shadow Connector & Leadership Circle)
- Engage in strategic partnerships with the health sector and other relevant organizations in order to advance mutual interests in health leadership in Nova Scotia (e.g. Leadership Circle, partnering with Health Achieve East)
- Get to know our existing members and attract new ones, in order to provide relevant information and opportunities (e.g. membership survey)
