Goldie Luong – Director of Special Projects for Vancouver Coastal Health
Goldie Luong is the Director, Special Projects for Vancouver Acute Services at Vancouver Coastal Health. She is responsible for strategic and operational projects at Vancouver General Hospital, UBC and the G. F. Strong. Goldie has more than eight years of healthcare administration experience in strategic planning, project management, quality improvement and information technology. She previously worked with Vancouver Island Health Authority as the Project Director for Community Care Initiatives and has held leadership roles in clinical information system implementations. Her healthcare leadership experience also includes home and community care, residential care, seniors health and end of life. Goldie holds an MBA and Bachelor of Science in Health Information Science from The University of Victoria.
Jennifer Duff – Director of Mental Health at Providence Health Care
Jennifer Duff is the Director of Mental Health at Providence Health Care. In 2011, she was named one of Business in Vancouver’s (BIV) Top 40 under 40, was awarded the Robert Zed Young Leader Award by Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL) and the Faye Meuser Memorial Award by Providence Healthcare and, finally, recipient of the Emerging Health Leader Scholarship from Aramark and CCHL to attend the Sweden Study Tour with senior health care leaders in Canada. At 35, Jennifer strives for excellence, growth, and opportunities in our health care system.
Jennifer is a Registered Nurse and graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Health Administration programs. Jennifer is also a Certified Health Executive (CHE). Prior to working as the Director of Mental Health, Jennifer held roles in management in surgery and maternity services as well as a variety of project management roles and clinical work as a Registered Nurse. She is also active with the CCHL National Office supporting the National Conference and National Award Advisory Committees and the Vancouver Board of Trade Health Policy Committee. Lastly, Jennifer is actively completing an Executive Certificate in Strategic Leadership at the Sauder School of Business.
Gillian Harwood – Health Care Leader
Gillian currently is an Adjunct Professor, UBC School of Nursing and a Board Member with the Registered Nurses Foundation of British Columbia. Gillian retired August 2012 after 38 years in health care from the position of Fraser Health’s Chief Nursing Officer and Executive Director of Professional Practice. Gillian contributed energy, intelligence and with her genuine personality helped to create a positive legacy of success throughout the health care system. Leadership roles have included Executive Director at Royal Columbian Hospital and Burnaby Health Services including Burnaby Hospital. Prior to FH Gillian was a Program Director at Lions Gate Hospital. Gillian received the CRNBC Award of Excellent in Nursing Administration, Leadership Award of Merit from HCLABC and completed her CHE designate in 2005.
Gillian’s goal in retirement is to support volunteer and professional organizations by providing effective leadership and service. She currently provides the orientation program for BH volunteers and is involved in the library system in North Vancouver.
